There is a vast difference between taking a picture and making a photograph.
— Robert Heinecken

Thank you for your interest in Lisa Yvette Photography. I look forward to working with you and your family. My portrait photography services include maternity, newborn, baby, family, and graduating seniors. Every photographer has a different business model and I’d like to give a bit more insight into our process. I do not have an ‘in and out the door in 20 minutes’ studio experience. I also do not have a 'shoot and burn' to CD business.  I want to build lasting relationships with each of my clients. Your portraiture investment involves 'time' with me and you'll have my personal attention from the moment of contact through the delivery of your prints.  After reading and experiencing the portrait process outlined below, I feel confident you’ll find your time and money have been well invested in quality service and products. If you have questions at any time, please contact me.

BeFORE YOUR SESSION

BOOKING

After speaking with you to learn if we can meet your needs we will move forward with scheduling your session. At that time, we will accept the $150 portrait creation fee and a signed agreement to reserve your session appointment on our calendar.  Space is limited. We recommend you book your session as early as possible so we can accommodate your preferred date and ensure all props are in stock. We will schedule Maternity clients for a session between 30-36 weeks or as soon as your belly is nice and round. We also prefer to schedule your newborn session while still pregnant.  We’ll use your due date for the appointment initially, then firm up the date and time once your baby arrives. Newborns are best photographed within the first 5-10 days of life while they are still sleepy and flexible for those special poses. However, if you do not book during pregnancy, we will take newborns up to 3 weeks if space is available.

PREPARATION

Once we confirm your session, we'll meet in person or speak over the phone to begin planning. We’ll talk about wardrobe, hair & makeup, shooting location, and props. We'll also discuss any ideas you may have. Though not required, we strongly encourage pregnant moms to have professionally applied makeup and styled hair to enhance your existing beauty and help your facial features stand out in your photographs. Call me old school, but the way I grew up picture day was always a reason to get dressed up and look my best!  We can recommend several awesome local hair stylists and makeup artists to complete your look. You will have all of my contact information and are always welcomed to reach out to me with your questions or concerns.

YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION

There is just one requirement for your session: Bring your smiles and personality. My goal is for you to relax and have fun while we do the rest. We'll interact with you and your family in a way that generates natural emotion and reaction. Depending on your session type, you will have either posed or candid photos (or both). Maternity sessions are generally held outdoors, but we can accommodate indoor shoots as needed. Newborn sessions take place in our warm, calm studio, but can be partially held outdoors during the warmer months if desired. We will gently and calmly handle your baby with the utmost safety and care during posing.  There will be plenty of time for feeding, changing, soothing, posing, and photographing.  Maternity and Newborn Sessions are designed with enough time (1-2 hours) to create your portraits with up to 5 family members. There is a $15 fee for each additional participating member over 5. Note: Some newborn sessions can take anywhere from 3-4 hours depending on the baby.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

PHOTO PROCESSING

After your session is over, I get to work sorting your images for the best of the bunch, followed by a touch of hand editing to ensure your portraits look great.  I'll remove or reduce the appearance of temporary acne, baby scratches, and other minor imperfections from your or your baby's skin.  The photo processing phase usually takes 1-2 weeks depending on how busy my studio is at the time.

PROOF VIEWING, ORDERING

When the photo processing is complete and your proofs are ready, I'll notify you. You will come to the studio to review your proofs, see sample products, and choose your print products. I'll assist you in narrowing down to your final selections as needed. It is important that all family members who make financial decisions attend this in person appointment as it is the one and only opportunity you have to place an order. Selection of your final images and products can take time and will require you to focus. It is suggested that children who are toddler age and over stay with a sitter. It's my goal for you to have beautiful printed portraits to enjoy and display in your home as well as to share with family and friends. I have carefully selected our preferred photo labs to give our clients high quality products. Our products include lustre coated photographic prints, mounted prints, canvas gallery wraps, mini accordion books, albums, greeting cards, newborn announcements, and custom USB drives. Full payment is due at the time of time or purchase unless a payment plan is established.  Product orders will be placed only after final payment has cleared.

PRODUCT DELIVERY

Product delivery time can vary depending on the item(s) ordered. Most prints are back in 1 week but other products can take 2-3 weeks. Once your final products have been custom packaged in our studio, I will deliver them to you for your convenience free within 25 miles of our studio! If shipping is necessary, there will be a shipping and handling fee billed prior to shipment.
